Apa benar wanita butuh kepastian? #SelmaHaqyJourney

Mbak Selma sayang, hidup ga semudah cocote Mario Bross.

Deira in the Adventureland’s Jungle

Last week, we spent the weekend in our neighboring Emirate, Sharjah. We’ve planned to visit Al Manhatta Museum and Al Qasba and, while we were there, attending an invitation from Adventureland. So we decided to stay in Sharjah for 1 night in Hotel 72, i chose the hotel because their strategic location, it was across of corniche beach, Al Noor Mosque, and at the same time also close to our destination points above.

We visited Adventureland in Sahara Centre Shopping Mall, we came a bit late because the road was quite busy in the evening. Actually, it was our first time in the biggest indoor family entertainment center in Middle East with 70,000 square feet. We expected a lot of fun!

We met a staff named Naro to pick the giveaway and media kit. We got GO FOR GOLD membership from Adventureland, we had adventure card worth 100 dhs to access the kids attractions and family rides. Adventureland came with a re-energized jungle theme and my daughter couldn’t hold herself not to be excited and so she walked all around the jungle ?. Then, she was stuck in Green Go Round, after she saw a lot of horses there with a double-decker grand carousel. Afterall, which kid would not be appealed to ride?
Face to face with the carrousel, there was Parachute, an attraction that would surely be adored by future pilots, as these colorful corsairs take young kids to fly up and down, around, clockwise and back again. I was even sure that papa looked happier than the daughter. It sure was papa’s time!?

If you want to make a birthday party for your children, Adventureland can be considered as the venue as well. They provide a birthday packages with price ranging from 75 AED including the meals. We had a great time in Adventureland. Hopefully they will open Adventureland in Abu Dhabi too :))

Summer? BHAYYYYY!

Kangen nasi goreng duk-duk-lah, tahu telor-lah, nasi bebek-lah.

Veggie Ifumie

Rice is Indonesian daily dish. We eat rice thrice daily, yup! From breakfast until dinner. If you don’t believe me, just visit any food stall, cafe or restaurant in Indonesia. All of them will sell rice complete with the meat and soup in one plate. Don’t be surprised when you see an Indonesian eat a cup of rice, potato meatball and fried noodle in one go. Believe me, most of us feel like have not eaten anything if we have not eaten RICE ?. Yet today, i’m going to present the recipe of noodle as a substitute for carbohydrate. Enjoy ??

Family Holiday to Bali (2)

Since we became an expat in Abu Dhabi and living so far away from our home country, I don’t want my daughter becomes unfamiliar¬† with our culture and tradition.

That’s why in the last holiday I brought her to “Setia Darma House of Mask and Puppet” in Ubud, Bali. It was really a unique museum, consisting of five¬†traditional houses (two of Javanese Joglo, another two of Javanese Limasan and one Balinese Pavilion) that¬†were used as display rooms of their collections. It feels like you are at home while looking to the collection. Also, eventhough there was no air conditioner in the museum, the atmospere was so fresh because the¬†museum was¬†located in the middle of paddy field, with a river in front of the museum.

What’s really interesting was to learn that some masks have philosophical meaning. Take¬†Barong mask, for example, it was a lion-like creature and a character in the mythology of Bali. It symbolized the spirits and leaders of the good. This mask also used in religious ceremonies as a tribute to the God.

The museum itself has a mission to preserve Indonesia’s most colourful heritage collection. With total collection over 1,000 masks and over 4,000 puppets from all over the Indonesian archipelago, as well as China, Korea, Africa, America and Europe. It really was a good place for family trip because it served as a great educational exhibits for young generation to love the cultural heritage better.

Well, eventhough my baby weren’t reading any texts in the signage¬†let alone noticed of what she was seeing, her eyes was so busy screened room by room. The¬†variety of forms and colors of the masks and puppets were really attracted for her. In my opinion, it’s a way to stimulate¬†the development of her brain.

After finished the trip to the mueseum, we went to Gianyar for lunch, I already made an appointment with my friend who owned Dharma Giri Restaurant. We ordered seafood and Spicy Smoked Chicken, the taste was awesome! I wanted to order it again. hiks ?.

After a not-so-long discussion, Ko Andy and Ci Jujun suggested us to visit Kanto Lampo waterfall. It was not widely known among tourists yet. We got lost for almost 15 minutes on our way there. Thanks God, we finally found the place after asking directions to the local people.

After we parked the car, we took the stairs leading down to the narrow river. I stepped down¬†the stairs while¬†carrying baby deira. I’ve never been to a waterfall as good as this one that was also easy to reach, only few steps down from the parking lot.

There were two waterfalls there, a bigger one with a lot of water rushing down, and the smaller one where you could take a shower. For those who love photography, this place is highly recommended to visit.

Visit my husband site in www.cendiliyan.com for more pictures from this trip.

When she isn’t baby anymore!

It just feels only yesterday when i was holding a little tiny baby girl in my arms. Today I find her a way smarter. She even knows how to ask her papa to play peek-a-boo together.

Lately, I was struck by¬†a revelation¬†that my dear baby wasn’t really a baby anymore ?. Every time I look at her, I see her as a big girl who is so curious and excited about something new.

Another progress happened. A few months ago, when she started feeding herself, she used to grasp her food with her whole hand and tried to shove her whole hand into her mouth. But I recently noticed she began to use her fingers to pick up specific part of the foods. From articles I read, this step has something to do with her development of fine motoric skills like writing, clumping, cutting, etc. So I should just let it happens, and not to push her to jump into the next step of feeding: using cutlery.

For another surprise, just as everyone told me it would, my baby found her voice and started saying baba. I wasn‚Äôt surprised, is her papa is her first love, right?. Her second words is mamam. I don’t exactly know,¬†does it refer to me as her mama or it means she wants to eat in bahasa (Ind: makan). A day after, she added¬† her vocabulary further with words like red, juice, sayang (eng: love), apa (eng: what).

It’s trully amazing how much she has changed and developed in just 9 months. I keep on thinking of what will happen when she becomes 1 year old and starts to walking and having her own choice instead of doing everything what mama told.

One thing, though, luckily for me she still needs a lot of pamperings, always wants cuddles and hugs from me, and me alone ‚̧ԳŹ

Korean Drama Industry: Cultural and Economic Impact

In my community there are some people who underestimate the quality of Korean Drama. I don’t know exactly why, because most of them don’t even watch any single Korean Drama until finish. Too early too judge, perhaps?

I think there are many aspects that determine the movie quality. The producer, cast, director, wardrobe, setting and, the most important, the story itself. In fact, finding a good movie in Korean Drama is as easy as finding one in Hollywood movies.

In¬†this article, I want to invite you to pay attention to Korean Drama industry that overwhelmingly powerful and remarkably popular. The popular definiton isn’t only about the number of their fanatic fans, but more to their success in introducing korean culture to the world.

For example, I learned a lot about traditional wedding preparation in Korea by watching 20 episodes of “Can We Get Married?” and 16 episodes of “Love and Marriage” drama
Let me explain in a bit what I got ?

Marriage, as the most important stage of someone’s life, needs a significant amount of time for the preparation. So, from episode to episode, the drama is all about how the groom and bride working harder to manage their emotion when preparing the wedding.

Korean traditional wedding

Since their wedding were decided by the groom and bride’s elders, problems start to appear when the bride’s elders give the list of dowry that must be provide by the groom. In return, the bride also needs to give something to the groom’s elders as a manner to say thank you.

Another conflict is about the background check (education, social, and economic status, etc) that is usual thing to do before the actual wedding is organized. The side who is found to have slacks should make a commitment to close the gaps.

Actually, the main story is familiar and so common to happen in other countries. But Korea is one step ahead for their creativity in packaging a simple idea into something out of the box.

Its wonderful when you see they still proudly wear hanbok¬†(korean traditional dress) for the ceremony. It’s also amazing how you feel hungry and craving when the actors start to eat ssambap, bulgoggi,¬†bibimbap, kimchi¬†like I do . Even many moslems wanna try the taste of soju after watching the stars savor it ?.

The writer try to cook ssambap

See?

Something that you think is small turns to be a huge factor that brings economical profit to korean national income.

If you don’t believe me, you guys¬†can check how many people visit Korea because they watch it’s beauty through the Korean Dramas because I wanna go there someday ?.

A Taste of Kuzbara, Marriot Downtown Abu Dhabi

I have given the chance to come to the soft launching of Kuzbara, a buffet restaurant located at Marriott Hotel, Abu Dhabi. Actually Kuzbara will be officially launched on September 7, 2016. It hosts an International cuisines (UK and Canada) to cater to the diverse background of their customers.
In Kuzbara you will be fascinated by the many stations of a buffet restaurant can offer.

Salad Bar

Starting off with the appetizers. Let me explain why I started with these carnivore version of salads. It just because I’m kind of person who will choose meat over veggetables ?. Just take a look at those shrimps, the taste was awesome eventhough I’m not really into western cuisine.

Pasta Bar

When it comes to pasta section, aglio olio is a must for me. We can really judge the freshness of the dishes by this simple menu. I only choose mushroom for the topping, and I do really love it, the pasta is perfectly aldente‚̧ԳŹ.

You’re highly recommended to eat the chicken wing that located next to pasta bar! It’s so much satisfying! I wish I could ask the chef for the recipe ?. I also picked the kebab, it tasted so smooth. I didn’t even know it¬†was lamb.

Patisserie

Indonesian loves rice! So I didn’t pick anything from this corner ?

Dessert Bar

There’s nothing can really go wrong when it comes to the dessert! Not only¬†it looked tempting, it¬†was pretty delicious ?.

Next to the entrance, you can find the refreshments area. Tea, juice, mocktail and everything! I chose the third from the right, but I forgot the name ?. It was made of pineaple, ginger and soda, the awesome combination of the sour and spicy.

It was definitely worth a shot and you should try at least once, to kill your curiosity.

Taking some pictures with tante kesayangan and the chef!

#babydei and Car Seat

#babydei is 8 months old and since she was¬† newborn, she always cried whenever I put her in the car seat. She didn’t stop crying¬†from the time her papa started the engine until we arrived to the destination, or until I got her out of the car seat ?

I’ve talked to my husband, maybe it’s all about the car seat. I thought the fabric is not well enough for my baby or maybe it just about the straps too tightly holding her body. I’ve tried so many ways to make her enjoy the trip. From toys to baby food, you name it!

So we decided to change the rear facing car seat to the forward facing one but, again, I¬†was so dissapointed because it¬†didn’t get better¬†even after she faced forward. Then, my husband had a super duper brilliant idea. He asked me to use my seat belt in passenger seat and to show #babydei that I got trapped with the straps too.

Guess what? It worked perfectly ?

Even baby learns from what parents do much more than what parents say ?.

I can understand why some children seemed nice and some were not. Actually it’s not about the children. It’s all about us, the parents. People will easily know about you by the way your child plays, talks and behaves. The ones who are treated respectfully by their parents will show respect, and vice versa.

From now on, I have to be more careful on how I behave in front of my baby #fight ??

Even if there’s nobody expects me to be a perfect mom. Everyone wants to give what best for their children, right?

Bandara.

All human life can be found in an airport.

Jangan sampai terlewat barang sekedip saja. Menunggu kekasihnya, mungkin.

Kusapukan mataku kearah lain. Sesosok pria berdiri termangu melihat papan pengumuman.

Pikirannya berkelana, entah kemana. Kepada orang tuanya, anaknya atau…entahlah.

Bandara. Selalu ada yang tertinggal dalam setiap perjalanan.
